An officer from the New Canaan Police Department on patrol at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 stopped 27-year-old Glenn Rabinowitz on Smith Ridge Road when he was spotted allegedly following too closely to another vehicle.

During the subsequent stop, officers said that they detected signs of impairment associated with an operator under the influence of drugs, which led Rabinowitz to admit that he had smoked a vape pen with cannabis oil five minutes before the traffic stop.

Rabinowitz went on to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and cited for following too closely. Following arraignment, Rabinowitz was released on $250 bond and is due back in court at a later date to answer the charge.
